It was on this day in 1970 that four young people were killed at Kent State in Ohio, they were unarmed. One of Long Islands young people was among the dead that day, so this blog is posted in their honor.

Tear Gas Fired on Kent State University Protest

Their names were Jeffrey Glenn Miller, age 20, who was a Long Islander who grew up in Plainview, his friends Allison B. Krause, age 19, who was from Cleveland, William Schroeder, age 19, from Cincinnati and Sandra Lee Scheuer, age 20 from Youngstown, Ohio.

There have been many documentaries, studies and books written about that horrible day in American history, and a great song from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
