Stairway to Heaven/Backwards

Today in 1982, The California State Assembly consumer-protection-committee heard testimony from “experts” who claimed that when Stairway To Heaven was played backwards, it contained the words: “I sing because I live with Satan. The Lord turns me off, there’s no escaping it. Here’s to my sweet Satan, whose power is Satan. He will give you 666. I live for Satan.”

Here is the track they used and someones interpretation of what was said. Personally I don’t hear anything, do you?

Usually when I hear something called a mashup, I avoid it, because its usually terrible. I wanted to hate this, but I just couldn’t. I’ve played this so much that I have a hard time listening to the original songs now.

Take a few minutes and listen to this, it will make you wonder!

BTW, Lennon went on record saying that Band on the Run was his favorite Paul solo song!

Songs that ripped off another song

Led Zeppelin will be back in court this year to defend themselves against the band Spirit, who claims that Zeppelin stole from their song Taurus to create Stairway to Heaven.

This made me do some research on songs that stole from others and the band never pursued any legal action. Here are three BLATANT examples and they are songs you know and are played everyday on WBAB.

First listen to this song by Journey, and then tell me what song borrowed from it.

If you answered Kansas, you are correct!

Listen to this song by Spirit, and tell me what song it sounds like.
